@blazedrust I had my tonsils out at 32 and all I can say is take all the drugs they give you plus ask for more. Diclofinac(Voltaren) tablets helped the most to reduce the swelling. I was back to working ie talking after a week. The first week though is kind of hard as every time you swollow it is incredbily painful but again that is why I stressed to take all the pain killers they give you. I even had alarms set to wake myself up every 3.5 hours so I could take the next lot. It's also worth noting that the inside of your mouth will look like you tried to eat a live granade and it went off mid chew but its all worth it. I was getting sick monthly before I had my tonsils out and since they were removed I get sick maybe once a year at most now but even then it's no where near as bad as it use to be when i had tonsils.

Tonsil Recovery Must READ! Had mine removed in high school, I’m 27 now. Anyways I had a scary experience after about 1-2 weeks after removal the stitches in throat came undone and I started to bleed and spiting out blood profusely at 2am. Had my parents rush me to hospital and they had to put me under and cauterize and pump my stomach. I think that’s a rare scenario but anyways it helped a lot as I got sick about 5 times a year and now it’s only once every year or two.

I got mine out my freshmen year of high school, I would honestly say that ritas ice saved me. We bought those big ass catering tubs and froze them in smaller dishes so we didnt have to go out as often. just like avoid things that would scratch the scars in the back of your throat since they really just cauterize the wound, not use stitches or anything

After they cauterize your tonsils, days later, the scab will come off and it will bleed. A lot. Don't panic. It's normal. The bleeding will stop after 5-15 minutes.
